Eddie Redmayne Is Brilliant In ‘The Danish Girl’ Trailer (VIDEO)

Eddie Redmayne could be looking at his second Oscar in a row. At the very least, he’s likely looking at his second consecutive nomination.

The global premiere trailer has been released for The Danish Girl, the latest film from Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech), and to say Redmayne is brilliant would be a bit of an understatement. Just from this brief clip alone, we get to take an emotional journey as he inhabits two very different roles within the same body. He begins as Einar Magnus Andreas Wegener, a Danish illustrator who’s very much in love with his wife, Gerda (Alicia Vikander). However, we see his gradual transformation into Lili Elbe, one of the first sexual reassignment surgery recipients. It’s a topic as relevant today as ever, what with Caitlyn Jenner making headlines. I’m not sure how the movie is going to be overall, but if nothing else, this trailer suggests that Eddie Redmayne will be downright revelatory. Watch the stunning video below:
