Ebola Virus Kills One Person One Day After WHO Declares Africa ‘Ebola Free’
The Ebola virus has claimed another victim in Sierra Leone officials confirmed on Friday, one day after the entire region of Africa was declared free of the virus by the World Health Organization.
Sierra Leone was declared virus free on November 7 last year and the region as a whole was pronounced Ebola-free on Thursday. However, tests on a person who died in northern Sierra Leone proved positive, an Ebola test centre spokesman told the BBC.
I think more vigilance is needed. More than 4000 people have died from Ebola in Sierra Leone and 11000 people across the region since December 2013.
