Donald Trump lied again - what else is new? On Thursday, during a press briefing, he said that the FDA will make an off-patent malaria drug chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine available "almost immediately" to treat COVID-19 coronavirus patients.
Donald Trump said about hydroxychloroquine: "It's been around for a long time, so we know if things don't go as planned it's not going to kill anybody... It's shown very, very encouraging early results, and we're going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately."
As soon as he made this announcement, an FDA spokesperson told Bloomberg News by phone that the FDA has not approved chloroquine for COVID-19 coronavirus use. Duh.
Does Donald Trump have dementia? There's probably been discussions about many potential drugs to treat COVID-19 coronavirus but he's already jumping to conclusions - and lying to the American public. How many of his ardent fans will think that there's already a cure? The FDA estimates 12-months before a vaccine is developed.
Donald Trump is a continuing danger to America.
News clips from Bloomberg:
Another Trump atrocity- He lied a/b the FDA approving a drug to treat COVID-19. Raising false hopes, misleading people & treating a pandemic like a PR exercise. His inability to face reality, his need to hide reality & his need to push a fake reality, won’t work during a pandemic https://t.co/dVOSVCxYKy— Tom Joseph (@TomJChicago) March 19, 2020
