Donald Trump and Univision Settle $500 Million Lawsuit Over Miss Universe
Donald Trump and Univision have settled their differences over Miss Universe.
The GOP presidential front-runner filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision when the network pulled the pageant due to disparaging remarks made by Trump about Mexican immigrants.
Trump ultimately sold Miss Universe and is now leading the GOP race for the party’s presidential nominee by a wide margin.
Variety reports that Univision’s five-year rights deal to Miss Universe was valued at $13.5 million. Settlement terms were not disclosed but the two parties gave similar statements on Thursday:
“I have known Univision’s President and CEO, Randy Falco, for more than 20 years and I’m glad we are able to put these differences behind us,” Trump said.
Falco said: “I have known Donald Trump for many years in both a personal and professional capacity and we are pleased to settle this matter and move forward.”
