Disney’s ‘Descendants’ Sends Disney Villains’ Kids to Prep School (VIDEO)
During the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards last night, we were treated to the premiere of the very first trailer for the upcoming Disney Channel original movie, Descendants.
The film centers on the kids of some of Disney’s most iconic villains, facing a considerable change in their lives when they’re sent to a snooty prep school. From High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, it looks like Descendants thrives on the contrast between the over-the-top world of magic and the relative normalcy of prep school life, as these kids already seem fed up with the normal human world. It actually looks like a really fun movie, like a Disney-fied take on “teen outsider” comedies like Mean Girls and Clueless. Check out the trailer below:
The cast is pretty solid, with Kristin Chenoweth as Maleficent, Kathy Najimy as the Evil Queen, Wendy Raquel Robinson as Cruella De Vil, and Maz Jobrani as Jafar. But the real focus is on the kids: the teen son of Beast and Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is ascending to the throne, and his first official proclamation is to give the villains’ kids a chance at redemption by allowing them to leave the island to which all the villains have been confined. In this group of kids is Dove Cameron as Mal (Daughter of Maleficent), Booboo Stewart as Jay (Son of Jafar), Sofia Carson as Evie (Daughter of the Evil Queen), and Cameron Boyce as Carlos (Son of Cruella De Vil).
But what do you think of the movie after seeing the trailer? Sound off in the comments!
