Songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray and Smash) will compose original songs and scores and David Magee (Finding Neverland and Life of Pi) will write the screenplay.

Insiders are reporting that the remake will be set in depression-era London 20 years after the original. Story lines will be taken from P.L. Travers’ remaining seven children’s books.

The Travers estate is on board with the project along with the songwriter for the original Disney musical.
