Demi Lovato Celebrates 3 Years Sober, Says She ‘Wouldn’t Be Alive’ Without Wilmer Valderrama

Demi Lovato hasn’t been shy about her struggles with eating disorders and substance abuse in the past. But her battle, while very public, has been a triumphant one: Demi is celebrating three years sober, and she’s crediting boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, whom she says saved her life.

Demi celebrated yesterday by posting a photo to her Instagram of she and Wilmer sharing a kiss. In the caption, she would thank him for his support.

“I wish I could put into words how grateful I am for this man right here. But my love has grown to a level that words could never possibly express how much this man completes me. He’s loved me the way I never thought I deserved to be loved and with this day marking my 3rd year sober… After sharing my ups, putting up with my downs and supporting my recovery… he still never takes credit and I want the world to know how incredible his soul is. I really wouldn’t be alive today without him. I love you Wilmer.”

It’s a beautiful photo representing a beautiful sentiment. It’s genuinely encouraging and motivating to see how Demi has picked up the pieces, and I think she’s served as a pretty great role model for how you can turn your life around with dedication. Wilmer also deserves kudos, since it can be difficult to recover without the support of loved ones. Congratulations to Demi on three years sober, and best wishes to the happy couple for their future together.
