CMLL Wrestler Thunder Dead at 35
Sadly, it looks like another tragedy has befallen the wrestling business, as CMLL has lost one of its own stars: Luke Fordward, best known as the wrestler Thunder, has died at age 35.
Fordward’s trainer, Daniel Lopez (who wrestled under the name El Satanico), reflected on his friend’s passing in a message that also mentions his daughter, Daniela, who was Fordward’s girlfriend:
I don’t have the words to thank everyone for so many prayers and blessings. Friends, family, confidants, every fan since all this has served. Luke Fordward “Thunder,” member of my family has left us today and I know that thanks to all of you best wishes his road was illuminated. It hurts so much what we are going through and today he has beaten the damned cancer, but starting today we have much more strength from all of you to continue fighting and more importantly to cover to gran luchaadora, my daughter Daniela, and with the help of our angel that is now with God, we will come out of this difficult moment. Once again, thank you to everyone. We will miss, you Luke.
Although no cause of death was revealed, it is believed that he died as a result of lung cancer, since Lopez stated several days ago that Fordward was very sick and in need of a miracle. Fordward had been one of CMLL’s top superstars until he abruptly disappeared from television several months ago. It appears his illness progress far more suddenly and severely than anyone realized. It’s just a sad situation all-around.
Our condolences go out to Mr. Fordward’s family and friends. Rest in peace, Thunder.
