Christina Aguilera Joins ‘Nashville’ In Recurring Role

So…one of the biggest stars in pop is heading to one of the biggest dramas in country music.

Christina Aguilera has signed on for a recurring role on Nashville this season! The Voice judge will play the role of pop sensation Jade St. John, a character who REALLY loves country music and travels to Nashville in an attempt to become a part of that world, “Ariel in The Little Mermaid” style.

Of course, the story runs the risk of being a redux of the storyline for Juliette Barnes, a product of the country-pop machine who isn’t taken seriously as an artist despite near-ubiquity in popular music. Perhaps Jade St. John and Juliette could help one another? Dare we dream of a duet?

Hopefully, we’ll find out soon enough. Although the airdate for Christina’s first episode on Nashville has yet to be revealed, we know it’ll take place at some point this spring, as the second half of Season 3 kicks into high gear. So keep tuned to Nashville, which airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on ABC. And check here after the show for a full recap and review of each episode. Here’s hoping Christina’s storyline is worthy of her insane talents. After all, it’s not as if she hasn’t dabbled in country music before…
