Chris Hero Possibly Returning To WWE
Three years after being released from NXT, it looks like Chris Hero is returning to WWE for a second shot.
The news comes from Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, who answered a reader question regarding the lack of bookings Hero has taken for 2017 so far, which would seem to indicate he’s going to be under an exclusive deal pretty soon. While Meltzer admitted it could be a case of Evolve Wrestling having plans for Hero, it seems just as likely that WWE has come calling. A subsequent report on F4WOnline.com verified that Meltzer’s story was confirmed with a WWE source. With that said, Hero is refusing to confirm or deny anything, instead choosing to call out the media for what he perceives to be “irresponsible journalism”:
I can't help but to be disappointed by irresponsible journalism.

Of course, Hero is old school, so it wouldn’t surprise me to learn he’s working the internet with this supposed outrage. If he does return to WWE, it’ll be interesting to see if he shows up as Chris Hero or if he returns under his previous developmental name, Kassius Ohno. Much of his signing is contingent upon Hero passing his physicals and working out a money deal. I would also imagine WWE would want him to slim down a bit, since weight issues were what got him on management’s bad side during his first run (even if he did manage to get in pretty impressive shape towards the end of that first NXT run). But there’s no reason Hero shouldn’t be a big star for WWE, and a great addition to the roster. Sure, at 37 years of age, he’s probably a bit on the older side. But I think he’s still got a lot to offer.
What do you think though? Could Hero be a good addition to the NXT roster? Or should he be fast-tracked to the main roster? Should Hero even return to WWE, or should he control his own schedule in the indies? Sound off in the comments!
