CBS Cancels ‘Angel From Hell’ After Five Episodes

Angel From Hell just got its wings clipped by CBS.

The new comedy, starring Jane Lynch and Maggie Lawson, has been canceled by the network after just five episodes. Starting on February 18, 2 Broke Girls will be taking over its Thursday night 9:30 PM time slot. As for this week, a rerun of The Big Bang Theory will air in the time slot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Angel From Hell, which premiered on January 7 with 8 million viewers for a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demo, has struggled to find an audience, even when factoring in delayed viewing. With this cancellation, it’s unknown if the remaining episodes of Angel From Hell will ever be aired. Perhaps CBS can burn them off online as a way to promote their CBS All-Access on-demand service.

I never saw the series, but I do like Lynch and Lawson individually, so I’m hoping they’re able to transition from this into something more successful. I just think it didn’t have much of a prayer (no pun intended) to find an audience, considering the time of year it premiered coupled with the relative lack of promotion when compared to other shows in the CBS lineup.
