Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery, More Read CMA Edition of ‘Mean Tweets’ (VIDEO)
Last night was the CMA Awards on ABC, live from Nashville. That meant the entire ABC lineup got countrified, including late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live. In this case, Kimmel brought back Mean Tweets, perhaps his most popular segment, for a special CMA Edition featuring some of the biggest names in country music.
CMA Awards co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley were among the stars who turned up to read vicious tweets about themselves on the air, and they were joined by other country artists such as Scotty McCreery, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Hunter Hayes, Little Big Town and bonafide country icon, Willie Nelson. As usual, it was a pretty fun segment, even when the tweets were getting vicious. The reason this works is because, for the most part, these stars are so successful that the criticism of people on the internet mostly just seems to roll off their backs. Otherwise, this would be a strangely mean-spirited segment, and far less funny than it could be. But this? This was one of the best Mean Tweets segments yet, in my opinion.
