Cannes Bans Women from Red Carpet for Wearing Flats – Report
The Cannes Film Festival is in full swing and it’s not going well for some women, who were reportedly turned away for their shoe choice.
More specifically, they were banned from the red carpet for not wearing high-heels and instead picking much more sensible flats.
Flats? The horror! The abject horror!
According to ScreenDaily, this occurred at the premiere of Cate Blanchett‘s film Carol where, “Multiple guests, some older with medical conditions, were denied access to the anticipated world-premiere screening for wearing rhinestone flats.”
“The festival declined to comment on the matter, but did confirm that it is obligatory for all women to wear high-heels to red-carpet screenings,” the site would go on to explain.
Said a film-festival regular, “I’ve heard this happening several times now, even to older women who can’t wear heels for medical reasons.”
