Box Office: ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ Has Second-Biggest Weekend Ever, Fails To Topple First Film
Avengers: Age of Ultron opened with $187.7 million in the U.S. box office, the second-highest of all time. This was a shockingly disappointing result as the movie was trending towards a $200-210 opening. Looks like the highly competitive weekend in sports (Kentucky Derby, NBA Finals, Mayweather-Pacquaio) just slowed the momentum enough.
The first Avengers movie still has the biggest domestic opening weekend of all time with $207 million.
Nevertheless, the film has already made $627 million worldwide in 12 days of release according to Variety. At this pace, Age of Ultron will reach $1 billion on May 12. Let’s see what happens!
