Blinded Koala Getting Better After Eye Surgery (VIDEO)
Meet Seaham Kerry, a rescued koala that just had surgery on her eyes. Doctors had to suture his her eyes shut to assist in healing.
From Storyful: A blinded koala is being taken care of by rescuers at the Port Stephens Koalas sanctuary following its eye surgery, as seen in this video posted on May 7. The old koala, named Seaham Kerry, was found wandering in circles in a horse paddock and had bad ulceration in her eyes, possibly caused by an unknown long-term irritant. A veterinary surgeon surgically removed some of the scarring and ulceration and had sutured Seaham Kerry’s eyes closed while her corneas healed. A serum made from her blood plasma would be applied to her eyes for two weeks to assist healing. The surgeon is confident Seaham Kerry’s vision will return.
Here’s to a speedy recovery Seaham Kerry!
