Blake Shelton Pokes Fun at Adam Levine in ‘SNL’ Promos (VIDEO)

Blake Shelton is hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time this weekend, and these latest SNL promos show that even when he’s away from The Voice, ol’ Blake is still expected to make some kind of reference to his stint as a coach on the popular singing show — particularly when it concerns his bromance/feud with fellow coach Adam Levine.

Blake tells SNL cast member Cecily Strong that his rivalry with Adam is not just for show: “It’s so real,” Blake says, before launching into a fairly awesome tirade. “Hey Adam, look who’s hosting SNL now, pretty boy! Hahaha! Hot shot! You silly motherf–can you say cuss words on this show?” It’s a fun jab at Adam, who previously hosted SNL back on January 26, 2013, almost 2 years to the day of Blake’s upcoming hosting stint. And because he’s Blake Shelton, this is hardly the only Voice mention in this series of promos, as the vignettes include a Voice chair-turning bit and some silliness with Blake’s Southern accent.

Shelton will serve as BOTH host and musical guest for this weekend’s show, which makes him the first host this season — and the first since Drake last season — to pull double duty. It should be an interesting test of Shelton’s comedic talents outside the context of The Voice. That said, Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas showed he has some talent with scripted comedic material, and The Voice also shows he’s quick on his feet in a live setting, so I’m excited to see what he can do. Until then, check out the promos for SNL below:
