Bill Murray To Appear In All-Female ‘Ghostbusters’
Bill Murray is coming back to the Ghostbusters franchise!
Yes, Bill Murray will be in the upcoming all-female installment of Ghostbusters from director Paul Feig, returning to the role of Dr. Peter Venkman.
This, after years of Murray hesitating to star in any proposed sequels or off-shoots of the Ghostbusters franchise. Apparently, the big reason for his resistance to returning has been the poor critical reception for Ghostbusters II, at least according to a recent interview with David Letterman. However, it appears this won’t be a starring role, but more of a cameo or guest shot. So its success or failure won’t really mean much to his career one way or another, at least not in the same way it would if he were the headliner.
Either way, this is great news for longtime Ghostbusters fans like me. I’m confident in Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones to bring the funny, but Ghostbusters just wouldn’t be Ghostbusters without Dr. Peter Venkman. Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters, which also stars Chris Hemsworth as the secretary (because, hey, why not?), will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
