Ben Affleck To Direct Solo Batman Movie
The news is coming in fast now that San Diego Comic Con 2015 is underway, and one of the top stories at the moment centers on the future of the DC Cinematic Universe.
It has been confirmed that Ben Affleck will direct the solo Batman movie, with hot shot comic book author Geoff Johns working directly with Affleck to develop the project. Of course, this news isn’t exactly a huge surprise. One of the conditions of Affleck’s contract when he signed on to play Batman in 2013 was a guarantee that he would get to direct the first Batman standalone for this new DC Universe.
No official release date has been set, but rumors have this movie set for 2019, which seems awfully long to put off a solo Batman movie. But the DC slate is already pretty full. Seriously, this is what their schedule looks like for the next three years…
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice directed by Zack Snyder (2016)
Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer (2016)
Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot (2017)
Justice League Part One directed by Snyder, with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams reprising their roles (2017)
The Flash starring Ezra Miller (2018)
Aquaman starring Jason Momoa (2018)
And that doesn’t even include the movies for 2019 and 2020 I left out! (You can see the full release schedule here)
So what do you think? Will Affleck be able to direct himself to a great performance/great movie? Sound off in the comments!
