‘Beauty and the Beast’ Likely to Return in Late May/June, Says CW President
The Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour is well underway, and The CW has already taken advantage of the high profile of the TCAs to officially announce the renewal of all its fall scripted programming. But that begs the question: where does this leave Beauty and the Beast?
Well, according to CW President Mark Pedowitz, it leaves the show in a position to capitalize on the relatively empty summer schedule.
“One of the reasons we picked it up was to begin bringing scripted programming in the summer,” Pedowitz says.
Although a premiere date is not set in stone just yet, since we can’t be certain how some of the network’s midseason offerings will fare, Pedowitz anticipates a late May or June return for Beauty and the Beast, which will join a lineup that includes unscripted series Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Masters of Illusion. This would seem to imply a move to Fridays, although it could just as easily be Whose Line and Masters of Illusion that will be the ones making the move.
More on Beauty and the Beast as it becomes available. Until then, let me know what you think in the comments!
