BBC Shows Will Remain On Netflix After All
Earlier this week, there was a lot of concern over the news that Netflix was planning to dump all BBC content from its library by the end of the month. However, it turns out this panic was premature, since negotiations for a new deal had yet to be finalized.
Yes, it’s good news for everyone who loves shows like Doctor Who, Luther and The Office (U.K.). BBC and Netflix have ironed out a new deal that will allow BBC series and movies to remain on Netflix for the foreseeable future.
The news was confirmed by a Netflix spokesperson, who stated that although some BBC shows will be leaving by February 1st (such as Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, MI-5 and Red Dwarf), the main bulk of the BBC library will remain on the streaming service.
The following is the list of BBC shows that will remain on Netflix, thanks to the new deal:
Classic “Doctor Who”
“Doctor Who” seasons 1 through 7
“Copper” seasons 1 and 2
“House of Cards” trilogy
“Keeping Up Appearances” season 1
“Luther” seasons 1 through 3
“Monarch of the Glen” seasons 1 through 6
“North & South”
“Robin Hood” seasons 1 through 3
“The Office” U.K. seasons 1 and 2
“Top Gear” seasons 17 though 20
“Torchwood” seasons 1 through 4
“Wallander” seasons 1 through 3
Of course, Sherlock, Call the Midwife, Happy Valley, and The Honorable Woman are staying on Netflix as well, although they were never at risk of getting dumped in the first place, since the deals for those shows are separate from the deals for the above listed shows. That said, there should be no lack of British TV to watch on Netflix in 2015 and (hopefully) beyond.
