‘Back to the Future’ Pals Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd Reunite for Toyota Ad (VIDEO)
Back to the Future fever is kicking in, and for a very good reason. Next Wednesday — October 21st, 2015 — is Back to the Future Day,a celebration of the franchise set on the exact date Marty and Doc travel to in the second movie.
Of course, this means some top brands will be taking advantage of the cross-promotional opportunities, considering just how many high-profile brands got name-dropped with futuristic products in those movies. Naturally, Toyota is getting ahead of the pack by releasing an ad that reunites Back to the Future co-stars Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, who come together in order to promote the Mirai, Toyota’s hydrogen-powered car. Although the vehicle only just launched in California, and only then in very limited quantities, the success of the car could lead to a wider acceptance of hydrogen fuel cell-powered cars. And hey, it helps to have two icons of the 80s coming together to promote it, particularly when they’re part of an ad this delightful, as the two stars talk about which technological advancements from the BTTF movies they’re still anticipating. Watch the video below:
The ad also serves as a promo for a full-length short that’s set to be released on Back to the Future Day next Wednesday, so keep an eye out for it!
