America's Got Talent 2016 Results #2 Who Advanced to the Semifinals (VIDEO)

-We open with a recap of last night’s show with some comments from the acts themselves. I love how touched Sal is by the comments he received. I legit have no real idea who the seven acts are that will advance. And I love that uncertainty. I mean, I’m pretty sure Sal, Calysta and Sofie will advance, but I’m not feeling comfortable enough to call anyone a lock beyond those three.

-Mel B basically admits the same thing when Nick asks, saying she hasn’t been able to call it this season due to the incredible depth of talent they have this year. Nick then checks in with Ryan Stock and AmberLynn, who had a mishap last night when Ryan was hit by a flaming arrow. Ryan confirms he’s okay and that it was an “equipment malfunction”, although they don’t really explain what, specifically, went wrong. AmberLynn just states that her target was on-point, so it shouldn’t have gone wrong. Ah well, I guess this one will have to remain a mystery. But first, we have to learn our bottom three…

-So we find out the acts that came in 6th, 7th and 8th in the voting, respectively, although they are announced in no particular order. The bottom three acts are…

Kadie Lynn Roberson
Sal Valentinetti (WHAT THE HELL, AMERICA?!?!!)

Heidi is positively STUNNED. She can’t believe these three acts are in this position, saying Kadie Lynn is “special” and a “rising star”, and then affirms that she absolutely loves Sal. She also praises ThroWings for giving it their all last night. In short, Heidi feels all three acts should stay.

-Now it’s up to America, as they must vote to instantly save one of these acts, while a second act will be saved by the judges. I feel like America will save Kadie Lynn, and the judges will save Sal. Unless it goes to deadlock, in which case I think ThroWings has an outside shot.

-Back from break with clips from the Dunkin’ Lounge, which is usually a pretty pointless segment, but I do enjoy seeing the contestants unwind a bit. Mel B asks Sal for his opinion on Simon comparing him to a singing pizza, while Heidi confirms that Ryan Stock is okay after his performance slip-up.

-The Clairvoyants and Sos and Victoria are called forward. One act is advancing while the other is going home. The result…

THE CLAIRVOYANTS advance to the semifinals!

SOS AND VICTORIA are eliminated from AMERICA’S GOT TALENT 2016!

I can’t really say I’m surprised by this, honestly. Sos and Victoria started out as a potentially strong act, but I’m not sure there were many other places for that act to go. In a cute moment, Nick asks The Clairvoyants why they’re so shocked by the result, since they should have been able to see it coming. Howie says there was no doubt in his mind that The Clairvoyants would go through. “You should make it all the way to the finals, I’m telling you!” he declares, praising America for getting this right.

-Viktor Kee and Steven Brundage are called forward. I’d be shocked if both didn’t make it through, mostly because Nick didn’t specify that one would stay while the other one goes. The result…

VIKTOR KEE and STEVEN BRUNDAGE advance to the semifinals!

The judges give both men a standing ovation. Simon is thrilled that Steven made it through, once again noting that the girls didn’t want him back on the show. He also praises Viktor, declaring they’re both amazing acts. Viktor thanks the judges, the AGT crew, and America for voting him through. Steven thanks his amazing friends and family, and then wishes a happy birthday to his mother. How sweet.

-iLuminate were finalists on Season 6, and their innovative dance style was one of the highlights of that season. Here, they perform while backed up by Fitz and the Tantrums, who play their new song, “HandClap”! iLuminate were known for their awesome light-up suits which allowed them to do some really cool things with their dance visuals. But the presence of the band kind of makes it harder for them to do their things, since they can’t just black out the entire stage like they used to do. The band still needs to be able to see, and all. That said, I still enjoyed this performance, and the song is pretty catchy, so this was perfectly fine.

-After the performance, Nick interviews the founder of iLuminate about their new show in New York City, while also plugging the new album from Fitz and the Tantrums. I liked the song and all, but Nick calling it the “song of the summer” is one of the most absurd uses of hyperbole I’ve ever heard on this show.

-Back from break, Nick announces that he and all four judges will be returning for Season 12! Awesome, I like this panel a lot. Nick then transitions into a video where he trains children to be judges on the show in the future. It’s a cute little video, but I can’t focus because all I see is Nick’s terrible hairstyle. It looks like the back of a children’s dinner menu.

-Nick calls FLIP, Sofie Dossi, and Ryan Stock and AmberLynn to the stage. The result…

SOFIE DOSSI advances to the semifinals!

FLIP and RYAN STOCK AND AMBERLYNN have been eliminated from AMERICA’S GOT TALENT 2016!

-This is the right call, although I was worried Ryan and AmberLynn might pull an Uzeyer and get the sympathy vote.

-The Dunkin’ Save vote is now closed, so we’ll be getting to that result soon. Nick calls Calysta Bevier and Moya Angela forward. The result…

CALYSTA BEVIER advances to the semifinals!

MOYA ANGELA is eliminated from AMERICA’S GOT TALENT 2016!

-Calysta thanks America, while Simon praises Calysta for her performance last night, saying she actually sounded better when he watched it back. He says the mission now is to get her to the finals. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if she made it there. She’s among the few inspirational type singers who’s actually inspiring, to me.

-Nick brings the Bottom 3 acts back to the stage. America will instantly save one of Kadie Lynn Roberson, Sal Valentinetti or ThroWings. Nick reads the result…

Sal can’t contain his enthusiasm. “It feels incredible! I feel like a million bucks, standing here already. Win or lose, I already feel like a million bucks, thanks to you, America! … I feel incredibly lucky and I feel incredibly ready to win this!”

Such a great speech. Sal is just so damn likable. And according to Nick, he got over 46% of the vote, so I would bet he probably came sixth in the voting from last night anyway.

-Just before the results, Nick announces that AGT will be taking a couple weeks off due to the Olympics.

America’s Got Talent will be returning Tuesday, August 23rd with the final quarterfinal show. And it will feature the following acts…

Alla and Daniel Novikov, Ballroom Dancer Duo
Blake Vogt, Magician
Brian Justin Crum, Singer
Edgar, Family Band
Grace VanderWaal, Singer/Ukulelist
Julia Scotti, Stand-up Comedienne
Kadan Bart Rockett, Magician
Linkin’ Bridge, Vocal Group
Malevo, Malambo Group
Ronee Martin, Singer
The Passing Zone, Comedy Juggler Duo
Vello Vaher, Acrobat/Contortionist

This is the best group of the three, in my opinion. I can’t wait to hear what Grace and Brian do.

-It’s all down to the judges. Either Kadie Lynn Roberson or ThroWings will advance to the semifinals. I’d put all my money on Kadie Lynn, because even if this goes to deadlock, I just can’t imagine Middle America didn’t turn out in force for this girl.

Howie praises Kadie Lynn for growing as much as she has, but he feels he needs to go with the throwers rather than the grower. Howie votes to save ThroWings!

Mel B enjoys Kadie Lynn but prefers ThroWings because there’s nothing like them in the competition, so she’s going to fight for them. Mel B votes to save ThroWings!

Heidi loves both acts but goes with her gut. Heidi votes to save Kadie Lynn Roberson!

Simon apologizes to ThroWings for his negative comments last night, and says their act was actually sensational, watching it back. He also feels Kadie Lynn is likely at risk because her song was overproduced. But, ultimately, Simon goes with the act he thinks America wants to see. Simon votes to save Kadie Lynn Roberson!

With two votes apiece, this means…

We refer to the act with the highest votes from last night…

KADIE LYNN ROBERSON advances to the semifinals!

THROWINGS is eliminated from AMERICA’S GOT TALENT 2016!

-As much as I enjoy Kadie Lynn, I think I would have actually enjoyed having ThroWings around more, if only for the sake of variety. That said, I’m not really sure what else they can do with their act. Plus, with what happened to Ryan and AmberLynn last night, and what happened to Uzeyer Novruzov last season, I’m a bit iffy on danger acts, even if they end up being alright in the end.

-The seven acts advancing to the semifinals are…

The Clairvoyants
Viktor Kee
Steven Brundage
Sofie Dossi
Calysta Bevier
Sal Valentinetti (America’s save!)
Kadie Lynn Roberson (Judges’ save!)

What do you think of these results? Sound off in the comments!

Until next time, thanks for reading!
