‘American Idol’ Star Adam Lambert Is the New Voice of Oreo Cookies (VIDEO)
American Idol star Adam Lambert is a busy man. In addition to the upcoming U.S. leg of his world tour and his role in FOX’s production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the singer is now the new voice for an ad campaign for Oreo cookies!
“It was always this fantasy — wouldn’t it be such a treat to record a song for a TV commercial?” Adam said in an interview with Billboard magazine. In the past three months, Adam is now the fourth American Idol alum to feature in a national ad campaign, as Justin Guarini recently returned as Lil’ Sweet for Diet Dr. Pepper, while Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams recorded a track for Extra gum. But for Adam, it was the message that drew him to this advertisement.
“The mission statement really spoke to me,” said Adam. “They’re encouraging people to look at our similarities as opposed to our differences and that is in line with my philosophy.”
The “Wonderfilled” campaign centers on animated characters dealing with such poignant issues as acceptance and understanding, with a title track penned by The Martin Agency.
“I think it sounds [like] signature me,” Adam added. “I got to go into the studio and suggest how I wanted it recorded. It was very collaborative and a really sweet idea. And we all love Oreo cookies.”
Well, agreed there. Check out the commercials (which debuted on Monday night) below:
