Live Blog and Recap

(Please discuss the show in the comments just like old times!)

8:03 PM – Performances first before results. Five go home, seven continue on.

8:07 PM – Wow, Lauren Alaina looks great! I wonder what happened to her career.

8:15 PM – Now it’s time for current winner Nick Fradiani with Thomas Stringfellow. I can’t wait for Nick’s album. I wonder when it will come out.

Not going to lie, the affected singing from Stringfellow is annoying me. I do like him though.

8:21 PM – It’s velvet teddy bear Ruben Studdard! So nice to see him back after all these years. He won in Season 2 and he’s still singing “Superstar” – his signature song. He still has it! Woohoo.

“It does not feel like yesterday,” said Ruben.

Passing thought: This #IdolDuets is a really great idea for the alumni, but a horrible idea for Season 15! It makes them look so bad.

8:30 PM – Unusual pairing of Sonika and Caleb Johnson. Oh god. They sing “Skyfall.”

8:41 PM – Now time for Scotty McCreery. They duet with his song. Nice choice. Love Scotty!

8:46 PM – FANTASIA BARRINO!!! La’Porsha is channeling my emotions right now. OMG OMG OMG

They sing “Summertime” OMG. Fantasia had the greatest performance on American Idol of all time with this song!

8:58 PM – Yay Mackenzie!!! With Lauren who looks smitten. Not surprised.

9:08 PM – Back and Scott Borchetta adds his thoughts on the night.

Nick Fradiani sings his coronation song from last season. Awful harmony from Gianna. Ouch. My ears.

9:19 PM – And with Avalon Young and Ruben! I love this! They sing Ruben’s coronation song “Flying Without Wings.”

Go Avalon!

9:24 PM – Eek, back to Caleb.

Why is Caleb trying to upstage his duet partner? Sheesh. Awful.

9:33 PM – Back with Scotty. We are going country again with “Gone.”

That was so good! But Keith Urban hated it.

9:43 PM – Back with Fantasia! She’s closing out the duets with Jordan Sasser. They sing her coronation song “I Believe.”

Jordan was so awful but Fantasia rules!
