AMC Orders ‘Preacher’ to Series, Seth Rogen Reveals First Poster (PHOTO)
AMC has found tremendous success adapting graphic novels with The Walking Dead. And now, the network wants to make lightning strike twice with its next big adaptation.
AMC has officially ordered Preacher to series. The pilot for the show, based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is currently being filmed, with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin hard at work on bringing the show to our screens at some point in 2016.
Naturally, to feed into the hype, the very first poster for the series was revealed on Twitter by Rogen, which was captioned, “Preacher is coming to AMC!”:
Preacher will feature Dominic Cooper in the lead role of Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher who encounters a mystical being named Genesis, and ends up with incredible powers as a result. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum Ruth Negga will play Jesse’s badass ex, Tulip, while Joseph Gilgun will play Jesse’s friend Cassidy, an Irish vampire (because hey, why the hell not?). Meanwhile, Elizabeth Perkins will play slaughterhouse owner Vyla Quincannon, and Lucy Griffiths will play Emily Woodrow, a potential love interest for Jesse who has been invented for the TV series.
This is easily my most anticipated new series of 2016, especially considering how much Rogen and Goldberg love the material. There’s just no way they aren’t going to do this series justice, and the casting has been pretty much on-point. I can’t wait to see how this all turns out, even if we end up having to wait a bit longer than May.
