Alison Sweeney leaving ‘The Biggest Loser’ After Eight Years

The Biggest Loser will be getting a new look when it returns for Season 17. Namely, the show will be getting a new host, since it has been announced that current host Alison Sweeney is leaving the show after eight years.

“After an incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as host of The Biggest Loser next season,” read a statement from the show’s producers.

Sweeney has hosted the fourth season of The Biggest Loser, and has been as identifiable with the franchise as trainers like Jillian Michaels. However, her departure is intended to allow her to focus on some other projects she’s got lined up. For one, Sweeney has a Hallmark Channel original movie premiering on September 26th, titled Love on the Air, for which she’s both star and executive producer. She’s also got another Murder, She Baked movie on the way for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, as well as a new novel, Opportunity Knocks, set to be released next spring. So yeah, the former Days of Our Lives actress is aiming to be known for a lot more than just a soap opera and a reality TV show in which people lose copious amounts of weight.

But who will be the new host? Well, NBC isn’t expected to come to a final decision until early September, which gives them some time to find the right person. Still, it’s going to be a tall order replacing Sweeney, since she was such a natural in the role.
