Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Cast as Killer Croc in ‘Suicide Squad’

A former Lost star and one of the newcomers to Game of Thrones this season is joining the Suicide Squad.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been cast as Killer Croc in Suicide Squad, the upcoming supervillain team-up film from Fury director David Ayer.

Born Waylon Jones, Killer Croc was a man who suffered from a form of atavism that resulted in a reptilian appearance. After suffering years of abuse from his alcoholic aunt, Jones murdered her and became the dangerous criminal Killer Croc, becoming a longtime nemesis for Batman and Robin. Croc made his first appearance in Batman #357 in March 1983, and has stuck around in Batman lore ever since.

I love this choice for the role, since not only is Adewale a physically-imposing actor, he’s also an immensely talented one as well. He’s also a really cool guy, as I had the pleasure of finding out. I think he’ll make a perfect Killer Croc. He also helps deepen what is already a stellar cast, joining a roster that includes Adewale joins a cast that includes Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and Jesse Eisenberg rumored to make a cameo as Lex Luthor.

Production starts in April, as Suicide Squad is targeted to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
