Adam Sandler Taking ‘The Ridiculous Six’ to Netflix
In October, Adam Sandler signed an historic deal with Netflix to star in four original movies. And now, we know what one of those movies will be.
Sandler is taking his ensemble comedy The Ridiculous Six to Netflix after previously moving it from Sony to Paramount. Production on the film is scheduled to begin in New Mexico this month, particularly in Santa Fe. The cast includes Sandler, Terry Crews, Taylor Lautner, Luke Wilson, Nick Nolte, Rob Schneider, and Lost alum Jorge Garcia.
The production will be great for the economy in New Mexico, as the film will reportedly employ roughly 200 New Mexico crewmen and an additional 250 New Mexico actors.
Not much is known about the plot of the movie right now, but I think the film has a great cast behind it. Hopefully, it’ll help Sandler get out of the slump of positively awful movies he’s put out as of late, from Jack & Jill to Blended and That’s My Boy. As a Netflix subscriber, I’ll probably give it a look, and I can’t say the same if it were being released theatrically, so perhaps this deal really is the best move for Sandler’s career, both as an actor and as a producer, particularly if audiences feel the same way.
