American Idol Star Adam Lambert Joins ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ On FOX

FOX is keeping it in the family by hiring an American Idol star for its second musical. This, despite the fact that they aren’t even entirely sure that their first musical is going to be a hit!

Adam Lambert is joining the cast of FOX’s version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He’ll be playing the role of Eddie, which was originated by Meatloaf in the cult classic 1975 movie. This will be FOX’s second musical after Grease Live!, which premieres on January 31st.

“I grew up watching Rocky Horror, but could never imagine that I would be part of this new vision. Rocky Horror always made me feel like it was OK to celebrate my weirdness. Hallelujah, bless my soul! I love that old time rock-n-roll!” said Lambert.

Lambert joins a cast that includes Victoria Justice, Ryan McCartan, Reeve Carney, Staz Nair and Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

No concrete release date has been announced just yet, but the production is expected to shoot this winter, which means we can expect FOX’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show sometime in Fall 2016 on FOX.
