2017 Golden Globes Winners: ‘La La Land’ Breaks Record For Most Wins

The winners are in for the 2017 Golden Globes, and it’s pretty safe to say the Hollywood Foreign Press Association really, really liked La La Land.

The musical from Damien Chazelle won a record-breaking seven awards, including Best Picture (Comedy or Musical), Best Actor for Ryan Gosling (Comedy or Musical), Best Actress for Emma Stone (Comedy or Musical) Best Screenplay and Best Director for Chazelle, and Best Original Score and Best Original song for composer Justin Hurwitz (and “City of Stars” co-writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul). While some pundits say that the Golden Globes usually just do their best to predict the Oscars and simply award what they think the Academy will end up choosing, it’s rare that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has ever liked a movie this much. You’d have to go back to the 1970s, when One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Midnight Express each won six awards.
