2016 BMW M2 Coupe Is Aiming To Be a Porsche Killer (VIDEO)
At long last, the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe has been revealed, and it looks poised and ready to surpass the well-received 1 Series M Coupe.
Boasting considerable power from the turbocharged 3.0L straight-six engine, the M2 gets 365 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 343 pound-feet of torque, offering performance power in an ostensibly luxury package. A six-speed manual transmission comes standard, offering intuitive handling and eminent driveability, although it’s not the only option being offered. A seven-speed automatic is also in the cards for drivers less capable at driving manual. However, while plenty of auto enthusiasts would scoff at the notion of taking the automatic over the manual, the seven-speed automatic transmission actually reduces the 0-60 time by two tenths of a second, a difference of 4.2 seconds to 4.4 seconds with the manual transmission. Those are virtually Porsche numbers! In fact, BMW M2 Coupe is actually aiming to be a Porsche killer, as the M2 managed to outsprint the 911 Carrera S in an impressive show of force for BMW’s latest prized fighter.
