18-Year-Old Bailey Spalding Stuns On The X Factor Australia 2016 (VIDEO)
18-year-old student Bailey Spalding stunned the judges with her take on “Wasting My Young Years” by London Grammar on The X Factor Australia 2016!
Bailey has a genuinely haunting, ethereal voice that belies the pop star look she’s going with for her audition. And she DOES look like a pop star, perhaps more than anyone we’ve seen on this season so far (well, all two days of it). Her voice is so crisp and pure, and it has this wonderful character to it that makes it instantly recognizable. With that said, I’m not sure what I’d do with her, if I’d try to make her into a Tori Amos type of act, or if I’d try to go with something more mainstream, maybe give her some songs to take in a more Lorde-style direction (not vocally, but in terms of arrangement). It should be interesting to watch her development in the competition. But for now, I was definitely impressed. Watch the performance video below:
