Before the results, host Dermot O’Leary offers a big announcement: Next week is The X Factor Jukebox, in which the fans will get to pick one of three songs for each contestant to sing next week through the official The X Factor UK app. The fan-chosen song will be one of two the contestants will sing next week.

The second act through on the public vote is…NICHOLAS MCDONALD!

The third act through to the quarterfinal is…SAM BAILEY!

The fourth and final act returning next week is…TAMERA FOSTER! (Tamera is SHOCKED, Rough Copy is amused, and Hannah looks PISSED. LOTS of boos from the crowd on this one)

Rough Copy sings “Stop Crying Your Heart Out” by Oasis

(This…may have actually been my favorite Rough Copy performance. A genius song choice performed really well. I don’t envy the judges one bit for having to make a decision after this. And THEY get a standing ovation too!)

Results

Judges’ Vote

Nicole Scherzinger breaks down in tears and says she’s furious with the British public for putting her girl in the bottom 2, and says these two acts should be in the final. (Of course, she doesn’t say who should have been in the bottom 2, since I think she forgets that the only other realistic bottom 2 options were Luke Friend and her other girl, Tamera Foster. Seriously, Nicole, who did you expect to land in the bottom except one of your girls? Be glad it wasn’t both)

As for Louis, he says it was an amazing sing-off, and takes a dig at Tamera by cheering, “And you both remembered your words!”

Anyway, on to the vote…

Gary Barlow sends home Hannah Barrett
Sharon Osbourne sends home Hannah Barrett
Louis Walsh sends home Hannah Barrett

-She takes the news much better than one would think, given how angry and depressed she’s seemed about previous bottom 2 appearances. She flashes a lovely smile and says how blessed she’s been to have competed this season, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think Hannah came across as incredibly likable here.

Thoughts

I’ve never been Hannah’s biggest fan, but I’d prefer her staying over Tamera Foster, who just isn’t ready, and who seems defeated every week before the song even starts. I’m not so sure there’s even anything she can do next week that would convince me she shouldn’t be given her walking papers by this time next Sunday. At some point, viewers need to stop giving her a pass based on her potential, since she’s had seven weeks now to realize that potential and hasn’t done much of anything save for a performance or two at the start of the live shows. It’d be kind of silly if other, more deserving acts, go home before she does.

So what did you think of this result? Was this the right bottom 2? Did the judges make the right call? Sound off in the comments!
