X Factor Costs $3.5 Million An Episode

X Factor judge Simon Cowell has revealed that each episode of the US version costs $3.5 million.
He told the Wall Street Journal: ‘This better bloody work or I am in huge trouble.’
The X Factor’s budget is $1.2 million more than The Voice’s $2.3 Million. I don’t have numbers for American Idol, but this year saw a 17% increase in operating cost thanks to Ryan Seacrest’s salary.
From Daily Mail:
He still admits the U.S. show could go either way. Recalling an audition in New Jersey just after Cheryl Cole was fired, he said: ‘It felt like there were 250 people in that room and every one of them was petrified.
‘I thought to myself, ‘This is either going to work or it’s not, and there’s nothing I can do about it’.’

The Voice totally killed the hype on X-factor. While people is now waiting for the comeback of The Voice, they have already forgotten X-Factor. Most specially all these controversy surrounding the show, I already lost interest long ago.

True. The Voice coming out earlier was huge because it introduced the judges coaching aspect to America (even though The X-Factor has had the concept for years in the UK already). However, there is the Simon factor...people want to tune in to watch him. The general public loves Simon, they might not love Paula to that extent but they like watching what kind of mental state she's in. Cheryl Cole would have been the icing on the cake and be the true eye candy, since she's a fresh face. Nicole just doesn't do it for me anymore....same as J-Lo. Once upon a time I would've tuned into Idol every night if J-Lo in her prime was a judge. These days, ehhh.
