WWE Smackdown Spoilers for 02/18/2016: Brock Lesnar Returns!
Tonight, Brock Lesnar returns to WWE Smackdown for the first time in well over a decade. While he won’t be wrestling on the show in an official match, the spoilers for this week indicate he’ll be kicking healthy amounts of ass anyway.
Unfortunately, one of the highlights of Smackdown from the past few weeks won’t be around tonight, as commentator Mauro Ranallo had to be sent home due to illness. Michael Cole will be calling the show in his place, and while I’m sure it’ll be fine, Ranallo had really been one of the best elements of the show since the move to USA Network. He feels like a more traditional sports announcer, calling the moves and providing insight. His enthusiasm just helps everything feel more momentous, and his knowledge base adds an air of legitimacy to every match. Sure, it’s only one week, but the man will certainly be missed.
But I digress. This week’s show features the return of Brock Lesnar, a tag team main event that sees Fast Lane opponents Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns teaming up to take on The Dudleys, and a major challenge issues for this Sunday’s pay-per-view. Check out the full spoilers below via Wrestling Observer/F4W:
-Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus and Rusev defeated The Lucha Dragons and Dolph Ziggler when Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick on Ziggler after interference from Intercontinental champion Kevin Owens, who was providing commentary at ringside.
-Sasha Banks defeated Tamina with the Bank Statement in a short match. Afterwards, Team Bad attacks Sasha, and Becky Lynch makes the save. However, when Becky attempted to help Sasha to her feet, Sasha pushed her away.
-Chris Jericho comes out to give his answer to the challenge issued by AJ Styles. However, Miz interrupts and says he’s tired of watching Jericho and AJ play footsie. This leads to a match between Miz and Jericho.
-Jericho defeated The Miz with The Walls of Jericho. After the match, Jericho invites Styles to come out. Jericho tells him the answer to his challenge for Fast Lane is “No.” AJ snaps and attacks Jericho, causing him to finally accept the challenge for this Sunday.
-Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns have a talk backstage. Paul Heyman interrupts and states Brock Lesnar is looking for Ambrose.
-Jo Jo interviews The New Day about their appearance on Edge and Christian’s Peep Show.
-Charlotte defeats Natalya. After the match, Brie Bella comes out and attacks Charlotte, who tries to lock in the Figure 8, only for Brie to block it and deliver the “Yes” kicks.
-A comedy segment airs with R-Truth and Goldust.
-Bray Wyatt cuts a promo on the six man tag team match announced for this Sunday, as the Wyatts will take on The Big Show, Ryback and Kane.
-Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns defeat the Dudleys by disqualification after Brock Lesnar attacks both Reigns and Ambrose. Reigns tried to spear Lesnar but hit Ambrose by mistake. Ambrose then tried to hit Dirty Deeds on Reigns, but Reigns countered with a Samoan Drop. This allowed Lesnar to recover and hit an F5 on Reigns. Triple H came out onstage with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to stare down Lesnar to close out the show.
