WWE Extreme Rules 2016 Results: Big Name Returns In Main Event, But Who Is Champion?
WWE Extreme Rules 2016 aired live tonight on the WWE Network, and it featured a host of intriguing match-ups, including an Extreme Rules match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship between Roman Reigns and AJ Styles. Did The Usos and The Club get involved in the match? Was there more controversy involving Shane and Stephanie McMahon, like we got at last month’s Payback event? Who came out on top as WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
In addition to the hotly-anticipated main event, the show featured a Fatal Four-Way for the Intercontinental Championship between The Miz, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Cesaro, a Tag Team Championship match between The New Day and No. 1 contenders The Vaudevillains, and a Women’s Championship submission match between Charlotte and Natalya. Also, the event saw the debut of the first-ever Asylum Match between Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho. But who left the event victorious? Were there any big title changes?

WWE Extreme Rules 2016 Results
-Baron Corbin defeated Dolph Ziggler in a No DQ match.
-The Club (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) defeated The Usos in a Tornado Tag Team Match.
-Rusev defeated Kalisto by submission to win the United States Championship.
-The New Day defeated The Vaudevillains to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship.
-The Miz retained the Intercontinental championship after pinning Cesaro in a Fatal Four-Way match that also involved Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Zayn had laid out Cesaro with the Helluva Kick, but Owens pulled Zayn out the ring, allowing Miz to steal the pin.
-Dean Ambrose defeated Chris Jericho in the first-ever Asylum Steel Cage Match after hitting Dirty Deeds following a bump onto a pile of thumbtacks.
-Charlotte defeated Natalya in a submission match to retain the Women’s Championship. Natalya had Charlotte in the Sharpshooter, but Dana Brooke came to ringside to distract her. Charlotte capitalized on the distraction, slapped on the Figure-8, and scored the win.
-Roman Reigns defeated A.J. Styles in an Extreme Rules match to retain the World Heavyweight Championship after countering a Phenomenal Forearm into a Spear. The Usos and The Club interfered, with Roman’s allies being taken out by Styles, and Styles’s allies being taken out by Reigns. After the match, Seth Rollins returned to WWE after being sidelined since last fall. He laid Reigns out with a Pedigree, and then posed over the champion’s body while holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt over his head, to the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd.
