The pilot for ‘Boy Meets World’ spin-off/sequel series ‘Girl Meets World’ has officially begun filming, and Ben Savage took to Instagram to document the occasion!
In the pilot, Ben Savage returns as Cory Matthews, now all grown-up and teaching junior high, following in the footsteps of his former teacher/neighbor/life mentor Mr. Feeny (William Daniels). Savage Instagrammed the following photo with the caption, “My First Class.”
However, the real fountain of nostalgia springs from the well of the following photo, from Maitland Ward’s Instagram. Ward, who played the role of Rachel in the later seasons of ‘Boy Meets World’, sent out this picture from the set with Mr. Feeny himself, William Daniels!
It seems more than likely now that Daniels will reprise his role as the millennials’ most beloved fictional teacher short of Miss Frizzle.
But the on-set visits didn’t stop there, as the titular ‘Girl’ herself, 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard, tweeted out the following photo in which she and castmate Sabrina Carpenter posed alongside ‘Boy’ alums Will Friedle and Rider Strong.
Friedle and Strong played Eric Matthews and Shawn Hunter, respectively, and their presence on the set has gotten tongues wagging about the possibility of the two joining the cast. “Rider Strong and Will Friedle visited us. OH MY GOSH!” tweeted Blanchard.
‘Boy Meets World’ creator Michael Jacobs, who is also executive producing the new series, stated early last month that he was open to the idea of Friedle and Strong joining the series. “I think there’s more than a chance,” he said. “I think there’s a strong chance.” A Rider Strong chance?
Okay, I’ll show myself out.
