Very disappointing song choices -- I would have thought there would have been better matches to the top 20 performers.  But here goes since I am stuck at home on a Friday night with a cold:

Olivia - "Wasting all these Tears" (this seems to be an easy one)

Stephanie - "She keeps me warm" (this could also go to Caroline, but I think it is too mature for Caroline -- and I can see Stephanie really doing this justice.)

Caroline - "Roar" (Beatrice Miller of X-Factor has released a stripped down ballad version of this, and I can easily see Caroline playing to her strengths again similar to what she did with As Long As You Love Me. I just hope no one does the regular Katy Perry version of this)

Jonny Gray - "Bittersweet Symphony" (his voice is very well-suited to this and he would kill it)

Jacquie Lee - "Wrecking Ball" (I am only assuming that Christina thinks that this is suited to a young female vocalist)

Matthew -- "Georgia on my mind" (None of these 10 songs seemed at first to be well-suited to him, but by process of elimination, this seems to be the most logical choice)

Tamara Chauniece - "You put a Spell on me" (Again by the process of elimination, seems to be the most logical.  If Nina Simone could sing this, then so can Tamara Chauniece.)

Josh Logan - "I will survive"  (Cake did a rock version of this; and I can't see anyone doing a disco version.  So a rock version would come down to Josh and Kat -- and I think Josh is the more natural fit).

Kat - "We are going to be Friends" (Wound up here by process of elimination, there are only several singers here that will wind up with a Jack White song)

Amber Nicole - "Crazy" (By process of elimination, and I really didn't see any of these 10 songs being a good fit for her unless Tamara Chauniece and Amber flip between "You put a spell on me" and "Crazy".  I can't see Christina picking Ceelo's "Crazy" for one of her own team)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shelbie - "Fancy" (again seems to be easy for the one female country singer on the other side)

Austin - "She talks to Angels (seem to be an easy choice here -- he will kill this)

Cole - "Home" (seems to be another easy choice)

Grey - "Still into you" (by process of elimination -- she is really the only one I could see singing a Paramour song)

Tessanne - "Many Rivers to Cross" (again by process of elimination, she is the only one this week I can see singing a Jimmy Cliff song out of these 2 teams especially since Preston did No Woman, No Cry last week)

Nik - "Blurred Lines" (yet again by process of elimination; I cant see any of the other singers getting this except him)

James - "Maggie May" (seems to be the most logical choice for him out of the 10 songs, although I didn't really like any of these for him.  I could maybe see Preston doing this also)

Preston - "Nothing on You" (Don't like this song for him -- as I think he would do better with Maggie May -- but I really don't see anyone else here being able to perform a B.O.B./Bruno Mars song, unless it was Will)

Will - "Secrets" (Didnt really see any of the 10 songs being good matches for him, but with only one song left, I can't see him doing a Joni Mitchell song)

Ray - "A case of you" (Didn't seem to find any of the 10 songs that seemed to be a real good fit for him, and with the Joni Mitchell song also not seeming to have a match to the right singer, maybe this is the secret combination.  He was also saying in his diary that he wanted to change things up and show emotion, and there are some male covers of this on youtube).

Nic - Blurred lines

Shelbie Boo Boo - Fancy

Olivia - Wasting All These Tears

Tessanne - Many River To Cross

Caroline - She Keeps Me Warm

Jonny - We'er Going To Be Friends

Josh - Bittersweet Symphony

those are the only songs that make sense to me every one else's song is up in the air and of course all my guess could be way off lol

@krbcan I definitely think you got most of these right. I'm actually enthused about the prospect of Caroline being the one to sing "Roar," since like you said, it's gonna be boring just to hear that one done straight. Plus, it would show some smarts on Caroline's part, and demonstrate that she's not just going to pick "easy songs" through the whole competition (though arguably she'd nail "She Keeps Me Warm," which I agree would be her second choice).

But there's just no way that Matthew's doing "Georgia on My Mind." The guy's been championing himself as an Indie Pop singer the whole time. Unless there's some secret, indie cover of the song, I just can't see him singing it. I'm betting he ends up with the Jack White song, which I also say because I'm betting Kat covers "You Put a Spell On Me." I just can't see her not strutting around the stage and belting it; it just fits her too well.

Otherwise, pretty well agree with your assessment about the Xtina and CeeLo.

It's a lot harder to figure out the other group. "Home" would fit Cole or Ray. i could actually see "Blurred Lines" being covered by James, so long as he was clever about it. I just really hope that Nic's not covering it, because that just sounds like so much potential awful (then again, I wouldn't have called him doing "Genie in a Bottle" to be good, and his rendition was at least interesting). I could see Nic picking up "Nothing on You" instead, which wouldn't be bad.

I don't really know who gets "Maggie May," and I'm already cringing. Some of these seem like really interesting choices, but honestly, a lot of them suck. One thing though: aren't the contestants picking their own songs? I got that impression from the video diaries, where I think James mentioned it. That's gonna alter the predictions some.  (also suddenly makes me hope that Olivia gets "I Will Survive." I really want to hear someone I like doing "Wasting All These Tears," and I just find Olivia so karaoke and fake...)

@Prof Fate @krbcan I agree that Matthew is an indie type of guy, but I also don't see him doing the Jack White song, since it just comes across as very sing-song-ish, and I don't think the public will recognize it.  I just really couldnt see him doing anything of these songs, so this was definitely a stab in the dark by my part, after my attempts to guess the obvious ones..  Matthew does have a great voice, and he might be able to bring a interesting twist out of Georgia on my Mind.

Who knows -- maybe he even does "She keeps me warm"?  That is probably the closest to an Indie song here.  I get the feeling I could be either wildly disappointed or wildly shocked by his song this week.

@krbcan After listening, I really hope that Cole does "A Case of You." I could see it fitting him pretty well, and that could be the secret combination. Ray makes some sense too though.

@TheBabyJesus @krbcan Yep - I can see Ray also doing Home, but I still think Cole's voice is better suited to Home. And if that was the case, I have no idea at all what Cole would be singing instead.

Some of these songs I really hate -- no matter who sings them.  Maggie May, Blurred Lines, Crazy, I will Survive, Roar?  These are songs i would expect to hear on X-Factor, not the Voice where song choice is so much more thought out.

@krbcan @Prof Fate It would probably be a good move on his part to do "She Keeps Me Warm." He's done nothing but blasted his songs pretty well since he started, and showing some subtlety could help him a lot at this point. And while he could definitely bring a neat twist to the song (which desperately needs a neat twist), I just can't see him doing "Georgia." We'll see soon enough though.
