Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel engaged

Well, file this under the “I didn’t even know they were dating!” heading. It’s a Mad Men love story! And it has a far better ending than the couple’s romance on the actual show.

Yes, Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel are engaged. Fans of Mad Men will recall Bledel’s multi-episode arc as Beth Dawes, the mistress of Kartheiser’s Pete Campbell. The storyline culminated in Beth receiving electroshock therapy for her manic depression, an act that annihilated her memories of Pete, in one of the season’s more heartbreaking developments (which is surprising, since this is Pete Campbell we’re talking about here — seriously, to hell with that guy).

This is the first marriage for both Bledel and Kartheiser, according to Us Weekly, who originally broke the story.

Bledel recently signed on to star in the new Fox sitcom Friends & Family alongside Jason Ritter. Kartheiser, meanwhile, can be seen in the all-new season of Mad Men, premiering April 7 on AMC.
