Two More ‘Boy Meets World’ Stars Are Coming to ‘Girl Meets World’

Girl Meets World is working the nostalgia once again, reaching back into the ensemble of Boy Meets World for two of its latest guest stars. And both have a connection to Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong).

When the show premieres its second season later this year, Trina McGee and Blake Clark will be dropping in as guest stars. McGee played Angela Moore, Shawn’s girlfriend, while Clark played Shawn’s father, Chet. Both are scheduled to appear in an episode titled “Girl Meets Hurricane,” an episode that will also feature the return of Strong himself as Shawn. The episode will also be directed by another Boy Meets World alum — William Russ, who played Cory’s father, Allen Matthews.

Although Shawn’s father died in season six of Boy Meets World, he continued to make appearances as a hallucination of sorts throughout the rest of the show’s run. So this is pretty much how he will appear in Girl Meets World, although it should be interesting to see how the show explains away a ghost having aged fifteen years. But I guess when subconscious spirits are involved, all bets are off. And all the better, because Clark is a terrific actor, and his relationship with Shawn was one of the most consistently compelling aspects of the original series. Chet’s death is pretty much the biggest tearjerker from Boy Meets World (it’s embedded below, so if you feel like biting your lower lip to keep it from quivering, just click “play”). McGee will also be a welcome addition, as Angela was easily the best of Shawn’s girlfriends, in my opinion. Hell, now all we need is Matthew Lawrence as big brother Jack Hunter, and the Hunters will all be reunited! Even if the father is only back in spirit.

Although there’s no official premiere date just yet for Girl Meets World Season 2, the show is expected to premiere this spring, a bit earlier than the summer premiere date of Season 1. Considering the mainstream success of the first season, the second should be a huge boon for the Disney Channel.
