‘True Blood’ Season 6 Casting News: New vamp, politician in Bon Temps

Karolina Wydra, best known as Dominika, the bride of Hugh Laurie’s Dr. Gregory House on FOX’s late medical drama House, has been cast as a dangerous new vampire on the sixth season of HBO’s True Blood.

Wydra will feature in a recurring role as the vampire Violet, a character that is described as sexy, strong and potentially dangerous — a vampire considered on par with Bill and Eric.

Also joining the series will be veteran screen star Rutger Hauer in the role of Macklyn, a mysterious figure with ties to Sookie and Jason (M. Warlow, perhaps?). Recent pics have surfaced of Hauer on-set and in-costume, complete with appropriately crazy hair, via DigitalSpy:

I’m sure Phil Spector would be a fan.

Other casting additions:

Arliss Howard, formerly of AMC’s short-lived series Rubicon, as Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell.

Amelia Rose Blaire, of the recently-canceled 90210, as Howard’s daughter.

Friday Night Lights alum Jurnee Smollett-Bell as a “do-gooder” named Nicole.

Season six of True Blood will premiere on HBO this June.
