Top 25 Performances of 2012 – New Year’s Countdown – #25

Mackenzie Bourg

Thanks for all of your suggestions regarding this countdown! I took it all in. For more info, check out my preliminary post here! It’s time to start, I think! The bottom of the list was way harder to concoct than the top. Overall, this was a fantastic year for talent.

#25 is MacKenzie Bourg with his quirky reworking of “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen! MacKenzie just barely ousted Colton Dixon for this spot. I found that kind of funny considering the fact that their vocal stylings are sort of similar. The decision was tough; however, if Colton is a nice glass of tomato juice, MacKenzie is a bloody mary. That did it for me! A stripped down and reworked “Call My Maybe” had me wondering how well Mackenzie could have done on a show like Idol. The Voice was stacked with vocal talent this year!

Colton fans, rest assured knowing he could very well have had this spot for me had I been in another mood. The difference for me was that while I liked Colton enough up until his elimination, I found myself wondering why I cared afterwards. After MacKenzie was booted, I actually missed the little teen gnome. I like his spunk!

Check out who’s up next at #24
