Toni Braxton announces retirement from music – Video

Rumors had been swirling around since she hinted at it on GMA the other day, but Toni Braxton said today on The Wendy Williams Show that she’s done making music!

Toni Braxton is hanging up the mic. The Grammy-winning songstress says that she is done with music and will no longer release albums.

She made the surprise announcement while doing press for her Lifetime Original Movie Twist of Faith. “I have to do shows here and there, but I’m not gonna do any albums,” she tells Wendy Williams.

Despite winning six Grammys and selling millions of records worldwide, her heart is no longer in it. “I’m falling out of love with it, it’s weird. I don’t knowwhat to say when I hear songs. They don’t impact me.”

Braxton’s last album, 2010’s Pulse, debuted at No. 9 with 54,000 copies.

“I’ve been trying to listen to songs, record companies have been calling me, so it’s a good situation to be in, but I’m not really interested at all,” says the 45-year-old, who plans to focus on acting.

She stars in WE tv’s reality series “Braxton Family Values” and in Twist of Faith, airing February 9 at 8 p.m. on Lifetime.

In her absence, her sister Tamar is filling in. The youngest Braxton plans to release her album Love and War this spring. But she’s confident that her older sister won’t be gone for long.
