Todrick Hall – Since U Been Gone – Video MP3 American Idol Top 24 Performance
Todrick Hall sings “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson on the American Idol Top 24
Ellen DeGeneres: You’re a dancer so you already have the stage presence.
Kara DioGuardi: Maybe next time just pull it bank.
Randy Jackson: It didn’t sound like the same song. You don’t want to take a song and completely obliterate it.
Simon Cowell: You came over as a dancer trying to sing. You murdered the original song. It was verging on stupid.
OK I thought that was very awkward. Not a good way to open the show!

Got Something to Add?
Not as bad as I'd remembered it. A nice surprise. Dial Idol has him going home though (If you look at raw votes. The scores tell you nothing.)
Really agree w/Adam Lambert's tweet last nite: (even tho he misspelled Todrick's name :)
"Toddricks def gonna surprise us!! Mad talent!! Def the full package. Casey is def the real deal. authentic. Andrew Garcia's too."
I'm so looking forward to greatness from Andrew, Todrick & Casey in the coming weeks..
Adam knows 'em when he sees 'em!
i really liked this performance...everything after todrick was just so boring...the arrangement caught me off guard but i got into it by the end...todrick was entertaining!
Everyone complaining about the judges comments.
There's making a song your own, and then there is completely F-ing up a song.... him... he fugged up that song up down and sideways.
It would've been totally different if the arrangement had been good, but it wasn't.
It sounded like some god awful 80's jumbled up mess. Plus he didn't even sing it well.
Did he have guts doing what he did? Sure, but it was awful.
You know in Project Runway when someone has worked the fabric too much? Or added on too many details or frills to the outfit and ruins it?
Yeah, that's Todrick.
I said that too while I was watching the show...I was really incensed that last night the judges kept telling the girls they needed to change the arrangements up, then tonight gonna blast on the guys for doing it & tell them they need to stick more to the original! They need to be as critical of their judging abilities as they are of these kids!
um okay well honestly i didnt think it was that bad. a nice change. i love the original. but still this was not as bad as they said it was
This just goes to show how full of himself Todrick is. To think you can take one of the greatest hits of the most revered winner of the show, and take it apart like your making some mix-tape in your buddy's basement studio. Simon was wrong, it wasn't verging on stupidity, it was stupidity.
Todrick has got to go to save Idol. I can't believe they would allow him on the show after he scammed so many children across our country! How can Ellen allow this???
Felt like I was watching a bad episode of Glee. Waaay over the top and vocals not great. Todrick may be in trouble tomorrow. Too bad; I kinda liked him in auditions.
Not the best of the night, but strong, in my top 6. You have my vote Tod.
About his new arrangement, I didn't like the bass synthesizer... The band choose poorly there, and that might have affected the way it was perceived by others.
I am with Quinton! This was freaking awesome. In my opinion I thought it was the best of the evening. I don't care about Todricks past. I care about the present and tonight he was KING of the stage.
Why do they always say do something to the song and make it your own. then when they do they will say somethings against it. This song is really good if you listen to it over again.
abercrombieco2 I cant give more thumbs up, but I totally agree with you. The judges are the most hypocrite thing ever! especially Randy, they say some things to some contestant but they dont aply the same thing to others.
I might be crazy, but I like this performance, it was different and its great that a song by a girl sounded good by a man.
Sounds interesting... I didn't recognized the song cause he totally changed it... But it's kinda cool! I like it... but I have to see the show when I get home it's not yet aired here in L.A.
i thought it was original and an interesting twist. I liked it. I wish the judges would figure out what they want. The kid that went after Todrick sounded exactly like the original and Lee was terrible. Oh well, we'll see how the voting goes!
We're half way through and I think Tod still has got the best performance. The judges ripped on him way to much. They need to replay this song and listen again.
You know what -- somebody's going to take his arrangement and upload it to Youtube or cut a single just based on his arrangement. Betcha.
Todrick's trying to impress the judges with his vocal techniques but he messed up the whole song. He might as well sang it in its original version. He should have sung I'm Yours in this round and I'm pretty sure he'll go into the next round with that song. He was sooo impressive with I'm Yours!
i don't like him , but the show just proved how stupid the comments the judges say are. last night with the girls it was all about "oh you sound too much like the orignal blah blah " "make it your own" he does what they said lat night , and than they say " you should have kept it like the way it was orignaly sung". so they want something original but not original? they allways do this , they say one thing , than go back on the thing they said the following night but saying the opposite thing.
I don't care about the arrangement because vocally he didn't nail it and therefore it was full of FAIL.
3 bad things:
1. get to sing first
2. sang it badly
3. judges didn't like it
and i like the way he mix things up but this time i didn't like it D: looks like he is in trouble
