The Voice – Season 3 adds ‘The Steal’ during Battle Rounds, New round added
The Voice Season 3 will add a new mechanic to the Battle Rounds called “The Steal.” A new round called “The Knockouts” will also be extending the Battle Rounds.
OMG! I am so excited! I love this show!
Two times during the Battle Rounds, an opposing coach has the option to pick up or save a singer that has been defeated. If more than one coach choses a singer, that singer chooses which team to join (just like the auditions).
This happen after the Battle Rounds, but instead of singing the same song, the singers get to sing a song of their choice.
So, here’s how it all plays out: The coaches go into Battle Rounds with 16 performers. That gets cut down to eight plus two stolen performers. Those 10 from each team then go into the new “knockouts” round and only five performers from each team advance to the live rounds.
The Battle Rounds have been the achilles heel of The Voice for two season now, and I think these new elements will help in making things more interesting. At the very least, we’ll get more singing and less “background” drama. The action really needs to happen on the stage.
I am so excited!
The Voice Season 3 debuts Monday, September 10 at 8 PM on NBC.
