The Voice – Battle Rounds – How It Works
The Voice Battle Rounds begin next week! This is actually my favorite part of the competition because we get a forced head-to-head sing-off between the contestants in a “boxing ring” set. The rounds also feature celebrity advisors — and this season, Kelly Clarkson will be on board for Team Blake Shelton. Think of it as an amped up Hollywood Week (American Idol) or Boot Camp / Judges Houses (The X Factor) for 4 weeks.
Here’s a quick rundown of what happens on the Battle Round, plus a video preview:
1. Over four weeks, each coach must reduce his or her team from twelve artists to six by pitting them against each other in duet battles.
2. To prepare, each artist works with his or her coach and a celebrity advisor: Lionel Richie, Kelly Clarkson, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Jewel, Miranda Lambert, Alanis Morissette, Ne-Yo or Robin Thicke.
3. After watching their duos perform, each coach chooses who will move on to the live rounds.
4. The Live rounds begin April 2nd – and your vote helps decide who moves on.
