The Dark Knight Rises – Review
FilmHere’s my quick review of The Dark Knight Rises which I watched during the midnight opening on Thursday.
It was long. 2 hours and 44 minutes.
There was a lot of exposition and flashbacks. Yes, most of the essential elements of the story were told in flashbacks. It still worked for me, but you really need to concentrate for 2 hours and 44 minutes.
It was still difficult to understand Bane’s dialogue. I noticed that they amplified Bane’s voice a lot — but it was still hard to decipher 50% of what he was saying. After 2 hours and 44 minutes it can get exhausting.
Hans Zimmer’s score was basically on blast for 2 hours and 44 minutes. The director Christopher Nolan was pretty much letting the music dictate the drama even if you didn’t really see it on screen.
Christian Bale still sounds like he has a sore throat.
The Bat-plane kinda looked like a flying beetle.
The Bat-motorcycle was amazing.
Anne Hathaway as Catwoman gave Michelle Pfeiffer a run for her money. (Although I still prefer Michelle).
Joseph Gordon-Levitt was amazing. He was the heart and soul of this movie. If WB is smart, they should build a superhero franchise around JGL. He is an actor you can definitely root for on screen.
I was very satisfied with the ending.
This movie was very long. 2 hours and 44 minutes. It wasn’t boring — but it was just exhausting to watch.
Still highly recommended.
