Beasties of the world, rejoice!

The on-the-bubble Beauty and the Beast has been picked up for a second season by The CW. The supernatural thriller started off the season strong, thanks to a solid lead-in from The Vampire Diaries. However, its ratings took a bit of a hit as the season went on, due to irregular scheduling patterns. But network president Mark Pedowitz is reportedly high on the show, which made renewal something of a given, particularly when you factor in one of TV’s most passionate fan bases.

Also good for a renewal is Hart of Dixie, which has scored a third season. The show joins previous renewals The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Arrow and America’s Next Top Model, which will return for only one cycle next season.

This is in addition to our earlier report that the upcoming Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals, has been ordered to series. All in all, The CW is nailing down its lineup for the 2013-2014 TV season.
