The Bachelor – Season 17 Week 4 – Recap
Reality TVThere are 13 girls at the beginning of this episode, Week 4 of The Bachelor Season 17, a number that is cut down by two by the episode’s end. Follow all the drama in my recap below!
Selma’s One-on-One
Sean is rocking the salmon shorts on this date. I love me some salmon shorts. ANYWAYS, they get on a private jet, and though Selma thinks they’re going somewhere glamorous, they’re standing in the middle of a sweltering desert. They go rock climbing in Joshua Tree National Park. Sean wants to take the glamorous girl out of the glamour and see if she can handle the heat. She hates heat and heights, and she’s not very athletic either, so this is clearly the best date for her. She is freaking out on the inside but tries to hide her discomfort. Eventually, she succeeds in climbing up a cliff, and she’s proud of herself for doing so.

I think Selma is absolutely stunning, but I personally didn’t see too much chemistry between them. They go to a… trailer park… for dinner, but it’s surprisingly cute. Selma was born in Iraq, and she explains to Sean that she can’t kiss him because her parents are extremely strict and would completely disapprove of her kissing someone on national television. Well realistically, it may be tough for her to advance far into the competition while Sean is making out and getting physically closer with all of the other ladies. Selma gets a rose anyway.
Fun fact: Selma dated Major League Baseball player Mike Napoli!! Wow.
Group date
Lindsay, Robyn, Jackie, Catherine, Amanda, AshLee, Sarah, and Tierra are on this date. I kind of feel like the producers are putting Tierra on all of these group dates to stir up drama.
Sean and the girls go rollerderbying, and it’s another team vs. team competition. Like last week’s volleyball competition, most of the girls are terrible at it, and it’s pretty funny to watch.
Sarah is having a tough time with this challenge physically and emotionally and wants to sit out after falling a bunch of times. But, she gets back up to continue skating. Amanda is super confident in her rollerskating abilities, but she wipes out… on her face. She goes to the hospital as a precautionary measure. After Sean sees that Amanda gets hurt, he calls off the competition and turns the date into a free skate instead, which the girls are super happy about. They then get dolled up for an evening of champagne sipping.
Amanda returns for the evening, but there’s no sympathy group date rose for her! Tierra, ever the drama lover, cries and threatens to leave that evening. Ugh. Sean, ever the gentleman, gives Tierra the group date rose to console her and tell her that he cares about her. Well played, Tierra…
Leslie’s One-on-One
Leslie gets a pair of earrings with her date card. Sean and Leslie go to Rodeo Drive, and she gets to try on (AND keep) a bunch of fancy clothing. She even gets a diamond necklace from Neil Lane! Reminds me of Brad’s date with Jackie two seasons ago, but without the private concert.

However, Sean isn’t feeling the romance, and he said that the prime time to feel romance would be at a one-on-one date. He sends Leslie home at dinner. Too bad, because they would have gotten treated to a private concert by Ben Taylor.
Cocktail Party
Robyn apparently loves saying pick-up lines to Sean. “You want to taste the chocolate?” Robyn asks Sean as she unwraps a chocolate bar.
Tierra tells Sean that she doesn’t want any of the girls’ bad talk to negatively influence Sean’s opinion of her.
Catherine and Sean’s relationship is building up a lot as well. He was even worried that she was friendzoning him, what? We haven’t seen too much of her this season, but they finally kiss tonight.
Rose Ceremony
The women who receive roses are Catherine, Desiree, Lindsay, Lesley, Robyn, AshLee, Sarah, Jackie, and Daniella. Amanda and her bad attitude go home.
The previews show Tierra running in a bikini onto a frozen pond in which some of the ice is cracked. Then she’s shown with emergency medics around her, wrapping towels around her, as her skin is tinted slightly blue because of the cold. Classic Tierra, creating all of the drama.
What did you all think of tonight’s episode? Did you feel like Selma and Sean had a connection? What about Leslie and Sean? How long do you think Tierra is going to last in this competition? Let me know in comments!
