TC Pool and Nate Montgomery – The Biggest Loser – Season 14 – Conference Call

I participated in a conference call with the first two eliminated contestants of NBC’s The Biggest Loser Season 14: TC Pool and Nate Montgomery. (Nikki Davis didn’t participate in this interview because she withdrew from the competition). All my questions were answered, so I didn’t ask any.

Here are some highlights from the conference call:

These are a few of TC’s quotes:

“I lost weight before going on the ranch. 40 pounds, but I needed someone to push me. I needed a trainer to push me. Now I know how to do that.” (on how he lived his life before going on the ranch vs. how he lives his life now)

“I lacked self confidence. I didn’t want Jillian as a trainer because I knew she would be tougher this season after coming back from a break. I was wrong. I psyched myself out, I wasn’t prepared mentally.” (on his expectations of the ranch, before going on the show)

“Even though the red line sent me home, I think it was a good idea.” (on his feelings about instant elimination aka The Red Line VS. sitting in the elimination room aka The Yellow Line)

“I used to play baseball in junior high, but I didn’t try out for high school baseball because I had self-image issues. I didn’t want other people to judge the way I look. After I quit baseball, I noticed a decline in my health. The most important thing is to stay active.” (on being a former athlete vs. being an overweight adult)

“At the time, I didn’t want Nikki to leave because she was our teammate. She obviously worked hard to get on the ranch. She wasn’t chosen at random. It probably was the best decision for her… now.” (on his views of Nikki quitting the show in Week 1)

“My favorite memory is the last chance workout. I didn’t give up.” (on his favorite memory from the ranch)

Nate:

These are a few of Nate’s quotes:

“It’s not about what people think of me. It’s about how I think of me. My goal is to better myself.” (on what he learned from the ranch)

“I’m a huge fan of the show, and I knew it was going to be physically tough. I just wasn’t ready for the mental part. Getting your mind ready is more important than the physical.” (on his expectations of the ranch)

“The Jillian you see on TV is the real Jillian. She can tell when you’re not motivated or in it, and that’s when she pushes you and yells. When you’re in it, she lightens up. She’s a multi-faceted trainer.” (on whether or not Jillian’s training tactics are just for show)

“I like the idea of the red line. I was happy that I didn’t have to vote off any of my friends. We’re a family this season.” (on his views of The Red Line vs The Yellow Line)

“I always ate fast food growing up, but I was playing baseball in high school. After I stopped playing baseball, I gained a lot of weight. I was eating the same food, but was not active.” (on being a former athlete vs. being an overweight adult)

“I never wanted to quit. I had a mental breakdown at one point, but I never wanted to quit. If I could go back, I would.” (on his views of Nikki quitting the show)

It sounds like they learned a lot from being on the show. They sound genuine as well. I bet they will be really fit at the finale. And also, the $100,000 At-Home prize is an added incentive.
